A nasty fight between CP and the City of Vancouver boiled over. Over the last year (after the city of Vancouver and our terrible leader Mayor Gregor "Moonbeam" Robinson failed on numerous court cases). CP has started clearing the "disused" Arbutus corridor for railcar storage. This was halted a bunch of times due to Moonbeam dragging CP back to court (on the taxpayers dime). As of December 22nd 2015 the City has filed a motion before the Canadian Transportation Authority, saying by not offering the line up for sale in 2004, they violated the transportation act. They want to force CP to sell it to them at 2004 scrap value (worth significantly less than what its worth today).

The latest round in the battle over Vancouver's Arbutus corridor has gone to CP Rail. A judge has refused to grant the city an injunction, preventing CP from working in the area. CP and the city have failed to reach a deal for buying the land.
