Description: Ball Striking Drill for Chipping - Golf lesson and golf tips on how to improve the consistency of ball striking when hitting chip shots.http://free-online-golf-tips.com/short-game-tips/chipping-tips/chipping-drill-consistent-strike/ ► Chipping Ball Striking Drill Tips - Video Golf Lesson Summary Chipping shouldn’t involve much wrist/hand action, both during the backswing and the follow through. Getting your hands too involved can result in scooping the ball, flicking the wrists and ultimately in unreliable results. In chipping, the length of the backswing should match that of the follow through. If the clubhead stops knee high in the backswing, it should stop knee high in the follow through. To make sure that you are not involving your hands too much in chipping, grasp the club down the grip, all the way to the shaft of the club. Perform a normal chip practice swing and note how the grip of the club doesn’t strike your body at the follow through. If you are involving your hands too much, the grip of the club will strike your hips during the follow through. Practice this drill performing practice swings until the grip of your club stays well clear of your body at the follow through. Then move on to gripping the club normally and hitting real golf shots using the same movement and watch your chipping results improve. ► More Golf Tips at: http://free-online-golf-tips.com► Subscribe to Free Online Golf Tips: http://bit.ly/GolfTipsSubscribe► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/freeonlinegolftips/ ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/fogolftips

Chip Shot Setup - Golf lesson and golf tips on how to set up for chipping shots in golf. http://free-online-golf-tips.com/short-game-tips/chipping-tips/the-chip-shot-set-up/ ► Chipping Setup Tips - Video Golf Lesson Summary Take a pitching wedge and adopt a normal - full shot distance - stance position. To chip the golf ball you don’t need much power, so we’ll tweak that base setup in order to remove power and add control instead. Adopt a smaller stance by bringing your feet closer together, as if you were waiting for a bus. Be sure to feel comfortable and balanced. Put the ball in the middle of your stance. Hold the club down the grip of the club, all the way until your bottom hand touches the metal of the club. This increase control and reduces power. Because the club is shorter you’ll need to stance closer to the golf ball. The key to the chip shot setup is to recreate an ideal impact position at address. Hips should be open, and the weight should be on your left leg. Aim your feet to the left of the target, for an open stance position. Your hips should match that open position as well, putting your hips out of the way from the club. Your shoulder and swing path should still be square to the target. Move and maintain 70% of your weight onto your left foot. ► More Golf Tips at: http://free-online-golf-tips.com ► Subscribe to Free Online Golf Tips: http://bit.ly/GolfTipsSubscribe ► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/freeonlinegolftips/ ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/fogolftips

Chip and Run - Golf lesson and golf tips on how to hit a chip and run in golf. http://free-online-golf-tips.com/short-game-tips/chipping-tips/chip-and-run-golf-shot/ ► Chip and Run Tips - Video Golf Lesson Summary The chip and run is useful when the flag is far away and you have a lot of green to work with. Some golfers make the mistake of hitting the same high chip shot, regardless of the conditions at hand. If there is nothing in the way between you and the flag, you are often better off hitting a chip and run and in doing so using the green available to you to roll the ball towards the flag. A shot hit thin using an 8-iron will be a lot similar to a perfectly struck one because the ball wasn’t going very high into the air to begin with. This is not the case for a high lofted wedge where a thin shot will travel a vastly different distance than a perfectly struck one. This is why it is often most prudent to hit a chip shot that just needs to land at the start of the green and roll towards the flag. Experiment with different clubs and notice how far they travel into the air and how far they roll. When you are faced with a shot where there are no obstacles between you and the flag don’t hesitate to chip and roll it, and in doing so lowering the risk of a thin shot rolling off the green. ► More Golf Tips at: http://free-online-golf-tips.com ► Subscribe to Free Online Golf Tips: http://bit.ly/GolfTipsSubscribe ► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/freeonlinegolftips/ ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/fogolftips

Pitch Shot Setup - Golf lesson and golf tips on how to set up for pitching shots in golf. http://free-online-golf-tips.com/short-game-tips/golf-pitching-tips/pitch-shot-set-up/ ► Pitching Setup Tips - Video Golf Lesson Summary Pitching involves a slightly longer swing than in chipping, but a smaller one than for full shots. The setup in pitching is essentially the same as in chipping but it does allow for a little more power. Reduce the distance between your two feet from the normal full distance shot setup so that your feet are just closer than shoulder distance from one another. Choke down on the grip of the club in order to reduce the power generated and use the grip as a power sliding scale. The further you choke down, the less power is generated. Limit the amplitude of your swing again in order to control the distance of your shots. The smaller the swing, the less power is generated. Finally, position most of your weight - 70% - on the left side during the setup. ► More Golf Tips at: http://free-online-golf-tips.com ► Subscribe to Free Online Golf Tips: http://bit.ly/GolfTipsSubscribe ► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/freeonlinegolftips/ ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/fogolftips

Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper – Golfers often struggle to make consistent and solid contact on their chip shots. Yet good chipping can not only save you many strokes per round it can also give you more birdie opportunities. Too often players misunderstand how to play a chip shot and so they end up either hitting the ground before the club reaches the ball, or catching ball only sending the ball shooting low and across the green. Such misses make it impossible to control flight and roll, and thus the overall distance you would like to hit these shots. In this video I show you how you can follow a simple progression of skills to ensure you will hit solid chip shots every time. I will then show you how you can build on these skills to add some variations to your chipping and thus get the ball closer to the hole than ever before. It will take a little patience as you work through the drills. But if you stick with it your practice will pay off with more up and downs around the green. Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper - Too many players find it difficult to chip the ball onto the green from tight lies - lies where the grass is very short and the surface may even be quite firm. Players will typically try to lift these shots into the air, hit the shot thin and watch helplessly as the ball runs through the green and off the other side. There is a way to play these shots where you can successfully chip the ball close very often. It is simply a matter of using your wedges the way they were designed to be used and then practicing the technique a little so that you can gain some feel for distance. In this video I explain how to play chip shots from tight lies and how you can practice this skill to get the ball close to the hole more often.
