Description: Drug Prices in America are too high. Legislation was written to cut prescription drug prices, but Republicans and a few Democrats killed the bill. U.S. Senators John McCain and Amy Klobuchar reintroduced the Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act to cut the cost of prescription drugs. Democratic Senator Cory Booker voted against it the legislation to help cut drug prices for all Americans. Cory Booker also just happens to take a lot of money from Drug Manufacturing Companies. This legislation would've made it possible for American's to import FDA approved medicine prescriptions from Canada. Cory Booker thought he could get away with voting down an amendment proposed by Bernie Sanders and Amy Klobuchar that would have facilitated the importation of affordable prescription drugs from Canada. He responded by lying about his intentions, and progressives tore him apart for it. He claims he didn't support the amendment because he implied his doubt about Canadian regulatory standards, however, just last month he voted for the 21st Century Cures Act, which weakened federal regulatory and safety standards for prescription drugs. Sorry Booker, we're onto you. Corey Booker voted against legislation put forth by Bernie Sanders that would have allowed us to buy prescription drugs from Canada where the prices are substantially lower. Mr Booker has taken more money from pharmaceutical companies than any other democrat over the past 6 years.

In which Hank is pissed off because the price of his prescription drugs went up 1200% in one month. So he asks nerdfighteria to write a nice letter to Roger Boissonneault at [email protected] If you could ask him why the price went up so much, why the program expired four months early, and why no effort was made to contact my doctor about these dramatic changes, that would be fantastic. Also, whatever else you want to say. I feel a little bit like this was a heroin deal "first time's free" kind of thing. Apparently, drug companies have the same marketing strategies as drug dealers...nice to know they're in such good company. Blue Lives Matter is mighty quiet these days. Minneapolis police chief Janeé Harteau resigned on Friday in the aftermath of the death of Justine Damond, an unarmed 40-year-old Australian woman fatally shot by a police officer. “I have to put the communities we serve first. I’ve decided I am willing to step aside to let a fresh set of leadership eyes see what more can be done for the MPD to be the very best it can be,” Harteau said in her resignation statement. Blue Lives Matter is quieter than a mouse pissing on cotton. Harteau worked with the Minneapolis police department for 30 years and had served as the city’s police chief since 2012. She was the first woman, first Native American and first openly gay person to serve as chief in Minneapolis. “I’ve lost confidence in the Chief’s ability to lead us further,” Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges, who asked Harteau to step down, said in a statement on Friday. “This just means that the time has come for new leadership at MPD to get us where all we know we need to be.”

Senator Bernie Sanders introduced an amendment that would have allowed the United States to import cheaper prescription drugs from Canada. While 12 Republicans voted in favor of it, the measure was effectively killed because 13 corporatist Democrats voted against it. TEDx Talks • 10 months ago
Would you be mad if you found out you were paying as much as 2000% more than your neighbor for a prescription? Furious, Michael Rea left his job as a pharmacist eight years ago to pursue a solution to the runaway cost of prescription drugs. Dr. Michael Rea founded Rx Savings Solutions in 2008 after routinely witnessing consumers struggling to pay for their medications. He noticed quickly at that time that consumers were paying much more than they needed to, which was attributable to a lack of information available to them. He set out on his mission to arm consumers with this information and add efficiency and transparency back into the world of pharmacy. Dr. Rea has been involved with research surrounding pharmacy transparency for over 10 years. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Big Picture Panel: Kai Newkirk, Democracy Spring/99Rise & Alex Pfeiffer, The Daily Caller. Over the course of a seven hour period that began Wednesday night and lasted until early Thursday morning - Democrats forced a series of amendment-level votes on healthcare policies that are overwhelmingly popular with the American people. The idea behind the so-called "vote-a-rama" was to expose the Republican party's far-right healthcare agenda, and it worked: Senate Republicans are now on record opposing, among other things, Obamacare's protections for people with preexisting conditions, Medicaid expansion, and an amendment banning cuts to Medicare. Unfortunately, the vote-a-rama also exposed the right-wing agenda of some Democrats. A measure that would have allowed Americans to buy cheaper pharmaceuticals from Canada failed because 13 Democrats crossed the aisle and voted against it. One such Democrat was New Jersey Senator Cory Booker - who has received more donations from the pharmaceutical industry in recent years than any other Democrat in the Senate ($267,338). Booker's vote was demonstrably not in the best interest of the American people. Doesn't that show why it's more important than ever that we get money out of politics?
