Description: Hartwell Railroad's GRWR # 6525 is a GP9 engine that was built for the Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad in 1957 by EMD. After the merger with Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Railway and Western Maryland (WM) Railway, Chessie System was founded in 1973. Chessie used a paint scheme that contained the kitten logo originally introduced by C&O in the 1930s to advertize their crack passenger services. In 1980, CSX was incorporated by the merger of Chessie System and Seaboard Coast Line. Before CSX started repainting all units, #6525 was sold to the shortline Hartwell Railroad (which belongs to the Great Walton Railroad). Service ceased several years ago when technical issues occured. Since, #6525 stands abandoned on an industrial side track in Athens GA, still showing it's Chessie paint scheme.[© 2017 MBMARS Productions. Exclusive rights for YouTube channel "mbmars01" only.]

Exploring Old Decaying Train - Locomotives - Coaches Built in various year between 1930s-1970s these no longer in service locomotives and coaches are sitting and rotting away. Why they are sitting is unknown, but it is said that the locomotives were taken out of service due to new FRA rules restricting use of friction bearings. Although there was not a lot of locomotives, there are two 1950s Built EMD (Electro-Motive Diesel) F7a Locomotives and a Switcher Diesel. There is many various coaches from dining cars, caboose, baggage car and lastly there is a Budd Car. The equipment belongs to a railroad but from the looks, you can see not much is being done with them and taggers / vandals have been here doing their destruction. As a major railroad guy, it saddens me seeing these beautiful monsters being destroyed by some stupid kids! CSX Q342 with C&O 8272 meeting a southbound grain train with a CP/NS power combo at the north end of Cairo lap sidings, then Q342 leaving the siding. Next location is at Ottawa. After that Q342 passes under the signal bridge at South Deshler. The final clip is Q342 entering the SE connection at Deshler to get on the Willard Subdivision. 5-19-17

From 5/15/2001: News coverage from Dayton, Ohio stations and the CBS Evening News With Dan Rather. This was the infamous CSX runaway incident on the Toledo Branch that covered 66 miles from Stanley Yard in Toledo to just south of Kenton, Ohio. This event was the basis for the movie "Unstoppable", released in 2010. For more info, see this link: http://kohlin.com/CSX8888/z-final-report.htm
